Last night’s contest with York Suburban was a seesaw of a game. The Vikings scored first on a 25-yard strike from Michigan daub to Christian Trader, only to see York Suburban storm back to take a 9-7 lead into the locker room at the half. The third quarter would belong to the Vikings thanks to another touchdown strike from Daub, this time to Isiah Davila. Two Wentling extra points to go along with her two third quarter field goals made it 20-9 NL heading into the fourth quarter. Disaster would strike in the fourth quarter as York Suburban would score three touchdowns in a little over four minutes. A Daub TD run with a 2-point conversion would even the score at 28 with under three minutes to go.
York Suburban would go three and out, and a bobbled snap gave the Vikings terrific field position with time winding down. Then the excitement began. Jenna Wentling had a 25-yard field goal blocked near the end of regulation, but a personal foul on Suburban would give the ball back to the Vikings. NL used the clock, before calling a timeout with just three seconds remaining. Jenna Wentling’s field goal as time expired sent the Vikings home with a 31-28 victory.
The Vikings improved to 4-1 with their third straight win and are back in action next Friday at Donegal at 7:00 p.m.
