Piercing Eyes
By: Dylan Adams
If
Just If
The world was not as cruel, not as heartless,
then maybe I could see.
The ethereal beauty it was supposed to be.
But I am lost, cold and alone.
All while you bask in the sun’s warm glow.
They said ignorance was bliss, but I disagree.
They were simply the ones not meant to see.
We all are born in the same facade, just some of us can pierce it with our eyes.
While others see its divine beauty, we only see its immortal lies.
So forgive me for seeming grim, but a fake smile is not for me.
For the dark, twisted and cold reality is all I see.
Lost in the dusk, found in the sunrise.
Bordering both heaven and hell.
A world fit for devils dressed as angels who fell.
I carry the curse of those eyes.
Those hellish eyes that can pierce the lies.
The most beautiful things in the world are sins.
And take it from one like me.
I see the world how it is supposed to be.
And it is absolutely beautiful.
