Yes, another winter is approaching, and with it comes wrestling season. Two things are for certain each winter: #1. It will be cold #2. The wrestling team will dominate.
Last year’s season proved no different. The Vikings started off by winning just about every tournament they entered, made the finals of the National Duals in Virginia, won their fifth straight section title, captured the league championship, and went on to claim the first District Championship in school history. As if that wasn’t enough, they went on to win the Section II AA crown, the District III individual tourny, and put an unprecedented 13 wrestlers on the District 3 podium. Not bad fellas!
This year hopes to bring more of the same. Coach Wallace like where the team is so far in the season.
“We have a lot of work to do, but we are getting there. We want to win a district title and bring a state medal home. Plain and simple.”
The team opens up this weekend at Solanco, before traveling to some of the top tournaments in the state and country.
“We go to King of the Mountain this year as well as Hurricane. Both of these events are tougher than states,” Wallace added.
If the schedule was not tough enough, the Vikings will travel to Cornell University on January 22 to take on the #20 team in the country Hilton, NY.
The Vikings are home December 20 vs Lancaster Catholic, January 4 vs Annville-Cleona, January 14 at the NL Tournament, and February 11 vs Pequea Valley. Let’s get out and pack the gym and root the wrestlers on in what proves to be another exciting season of NL Wrestling.
