This past weekend at The Giant Center in Hershey, the Vikings once again proved they belong among the state’s best.
The wrestlers’ team state run came to an end when they lost to Brookville 39-28 and lost to Harbor Creek 34-24. “This group battled. They are young and tough. They prove that hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard.”, says Head Coach Russell Wallace.
Vikings defeated Wilson 49-21, the fourth year in a row the Vikings have advanced to the PIAA State Championships. “To get back to states is a cool thing,” said Coach Russell Wallace. The Vikings are currently ranked #6 in PA and finish their regular season with a 20-3 record.
Vikings currently own a 36 match win streak in the Lancaster-Lebanon League, and earlier this year won their sixth straight Lancaster-Lebanon Section Championship. Wallace says, “When you graduate a bunch of solid seniors, you always have to work that much harder.”
The next battle the Vikings will face will be Sectionals on Saturday Feb. 17.
“We have lots of winning left to do. Individuals begin this weekend, and our goal is at least half the team at individual states.”
The top 3 from Sectionals will advance to the District Championships the following week.
