Going back to school is always tough after a long relaxing summer. Many students find it difficult to get motivated, while others jump right into the swing of things. There are a few things that you can do to help make your first few weeks a lot better:
- Get plenty of sleep. Sleeping schedules get messed up during late summer nights. Get plenty of rest and wake up refreshed each morning.
- Eat healthy. Food is fuel, and the better we eat, the more we will be able to function positively. Try your hardest to eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner so that you can stay fueled throughout the day.
- Get organized. Once your teachers give you a supply list, be sure to get the appropriate folders and binders so that you can stay organized. Keep notes and handouts in their appropriate folders so that you can access them come midterm time. The more organized you are the better off you will be.
- Welcome back your teachers. Your instructors are having a hectic beginning to their year as well. Be friendly, say hello, and be patient as they take care of all the beginning-of-school “stuff”
- Be positive! Your day is only as good or bad as you make it. Go to school each day with a positive attitude and attack each class with eagerness. You will be surprised how great your start of the year will be!
