Mrs. Peiffer attended high school at Penn Hills High School, where she took German since her 9th grade year. After graduating Penn Hills High School Mrs. Peiffer went on to attend Millersville University. During college Mrs. Peiffer went on a student exchange program and spent her junior year of college studying at a German University. She also has been to Germany one other time since then. Since she can remember, she always wanted to become a teacher, but not a German teacher at first. Early on, she wanted to become a Math teacher because her mom was a math teacher.
Mrs Peiffer had a “cool” German I teacher that made her love the language and the rest is history. Mrs. Peiffer has taught German at many other school besides Northern Lebanon such as Central York Middle School where she taught Intro Into Foreign Languages, Central York High School, Lancaster Catholic High School, and Manheim Central High School.
When asked about her start at NL she replied, “ I love being at Northern Lebanon. The kids I have are so good”. When asked why she thinks students at Northern Lebanon should take her class Mrs. Peiffer responded that, “most of them probably have a German background”.
Mrs. Peiffer hopes that students can take away the knowledge of being able to order a meal, and do basic tasks in German. If you need any help in German Mrs. Peiffer is usually after school for at least a half an hour, sometimes longer, just check with her first. Mrs. Peiffer hopes that one day she will be able to go back to Germany, hopefully to get her favorite German treat; German chocolate.
If Mrs. Peiffer could have any superpower she would want to fly so she could get here in a shorter period of time. With a one-hour commute to Northern Lebanon that could be very helpful. If Mrs. Peiffer could travel to anytime period she would travel to the beginning of the 20th century when cars were invented. Mrs. Peiffer’s advice for this year’s graduating class is to, “Make sure you have good study habits. That will help you in college, and also make sure you are organized.”
