The next member of the Northern Lebanon Faculty Family to be spotlighted is Mrs. Charity Stohler Finkin. Mrs. Finkin is a graduate of Ephrata High School, Mary Washington College and Millersville University. Mrs. Finkin did not want to become a history teacher at first. At first Mrs. Finkin wanted to become a FBI agent, but because of health difficulties she unfortunately could not pursue that career.. Mrs. Finkin has been teaching history for 16 years. Before she came to Northern Lebanon, Mrs. Finkin was a long-term substitute at Solanco High School, in Quarryville, Pa. and Massaponax High School in Fredericksburg, Va. Mrs. Finkin has been teaching at Northern Lebanon for the past 14 years. Mrs. Finkin always enjoyed the idea of being a teacher. When she was little she used to play school with her next door neighbor, Ralph. He helped her to fully realize she wanted to become a teacher.
If you need help in Mrs. Finkin’s class, you can come see her during period 9 or after school. Mrs. Finkin is after school until approximately 3:30 each day.
Mrs. Finkin’s history class studies The Bill of Rights, 3 branches of government, elections and political parties, and how to debate. When Mrs. Finkin is not at school she loves going concerts; especially Lionel Richie, hanging out with friends and family, going to movies, going out to dinner, and traveling to the beach.
Mrs. Finkin loves her job at NL.
“I love being at NL,” she said. This is my home.”
After school you can find Mrs. Finkin involved in many activities at NL. She coaches our Quiz Bowl team, serves as the junior class advisor, detention supervisor, clock and score board operator for varsity football, official book keeper for girls volleyball, clock and scoreboard operator for all home girls and boys basketball games. Go Finkin!
Mrs. Finkin hopes to someday travel to Italy to visit Rome for its interesting history and beautiful architecture. Mrs. Finkin also has lots of other places stamped in her passport. Mrs. Finkin has traveled to England, Wales, Ireland, Australia, Bahamas, Jamaica, Bermuda and Canada.
Mrs. Finkin’s goals for this school year are to “to have a successful school year, and to make a difference in her students lives.”
. Some things Mrs. Finkin would like students to take away from her class is, “to be appreciative of the country we live in, and be active citizens.”
If Mrs. Finkin could have any superpower she would love to have invisibility, “So I could see what people are doing and saying without them knowing I’m there.”
If she would ever become small enough to be trapped in a blender, Mrs. Finkin would yell for help until she could be rescued. Mrs. Finkin’s advice for the graduating class of 2018 is to, “Work hard, do what you love and what makes you happy.”
We hope you have a great school year Mrs. Finkin.
