Over the past decade young children have gone from playing outside to staying indoors on their different devices. Many children are becoming more and more anti-social because of increased technology. Instead of having a face to face interaction with other children they communicate over their xbox, tablet, or iphone. Sports are an amazing and healthy way to get kids outside to socialize with one another. At first they may not like the sport they have chosen which is normal for most kids, especially at a younger age, but overtime they will develop a love and passion for it and thank you for giving them the opportunity.
There are so many sports and activities to choose from at a young age, such as soccer, baseball or tee ball, basketball, field hockey, elementary track and field, gymnastics, football, or anything else involving physical activity.
The health aspect of it all includes lowered stress and higher energy levels. Many children, although young go through the stress of school and other children who may not be the nicest to them and sports is a great way to release that built up tension and channel it into something that will only improve them. Besides stress, most children in America are developing illnesses that should only occur in their older years such as obesity and diabetes as well as heart issues. Staying outside will help them stay in shape and stay fit while they are with their friends and doing something they enjoy.
I can't even explain the amount of lifelong friendships I have made with the people I play sports with. I have met dozens of kids from different schools that I would have never met if it was not for soccer and the other sports I do. When I was younger, I was homeschooled so I did not have many friends. If it were not for soccer I would have been going into a public middle school with no one at all. My parents have always driven me to my sporting events since I was four years old and now that I can drive I help transport my brothers to theirs.
Some kids have hidden talents they may never know about, One of my close friends starting throwing javelin for the track team this year; he's in 10th grade. He has never thrown before, and five track meets into this season he has already landed himself in the top ten of all time best javelin throwers for our high school; the records date back 50 years when our school originated.
Give kids a chance to become part and take part in something amazing while staying healthy and fit in the process!
