One of the newest teachers to join the Northern Lebanon family is Spanish instructor, Ms. Orellano. Ms Orellana was born and raised in Chile, but came to the United States to attend Montclair State University in New Jersey. Ms. Orellana has studied multiple languages. While in high school Ms. Orellana studied French, however, when she came to the United States to attend college she studied Portuguese. While Ms Orellana is not as fluent in Portuguese as she wishes, she gives it her best shot.
“When I was a teenager I started to have the willingness to become a teacher,” she states.
While in college her Spanish Literature Professor really influenced her to become a teacher (thanks professor!). Ms. Orellana has been teaching Spanish for eleven years, having taught at Nutley HS, NJ, Pequannock HS, NJ, Butler HS, NJ, and now Northern Lebanon. Northern Lebanon is the first PA school in which Ms. Orellana has taught.
After school you can find Ms. Orellana helping out with Spanish Club. If you need help in her Spanish class you can see her after school. She usually stays until 3:30pm. Ms. Orellana wants to travel to Spain, Mexico, and Brazil one day. Ms. Orellana would like students to take her class because she does a combination of the culture and the language. She thinks it is interesting for the students to learn about the food and the music.
“I try to include different aspects of the culture,” she said.
When asked what she thinks of Northern Lebanon so far Ms. Orellana replied, “ Really nice school. All the students are very nice and polite. The students care for the school and each other. The teachers care for the students. The school is a very nice environment in which to work .”
Outside of school Ms. Orellana is a Zumba instructor. She loves dancing, playing her guitar and doing activities with her children. If Ms. Orellana could have any superpower she would like to have teleportation.
We hope you have a great year at NL Ms. Orellana!
