Every September you can see a few new faces walking the halls at Northern Lebanon. One new face this year is NL’s new high school principal, Mrs. Jennifer Hassler. Mrs. Hassler is originally from Havertown, which is outside of Philadelphia. She went to Haverford Township Senior High School and continued her education at Millersville University, majoring in elementary education. She later went to Penn State to receive her masters degree in educational leadership and then to Alvernia to work on her principalship.
Mrs Hassler has been married for seventeen years and has two children. Her daughter is in 9th grade and her son is in 8th grade. They attend school in the Conrad Weiser School District. Mrs Hassler says her kids are very involved and they’re good friends, but when she’s not at school, she’s driving them around. “I like family time though, that’s really the truth.”
Before she was a principal, Mrs. Hassler had many other jobs in education. She was a teacher at both the elementary and middle school level, and also held a specialist position. She told Belron that it wasn’t always her goal to be a principal but she wishes it was. While she was teaching, she always sought a greater challenge, and began working to become a principal. Mrs. Hassler’s favorite thing about being an educator is getting the opportunity to make changes in the lives of others.
Mrs. Hassler said that she loves how close knit Northern Lebanon High School is. She feels like NL is connected and people care about each other more than in bigger school districts. She finds that the students are very respectful and she really appreciates the kindness. Mrs Hassler’s goal for our school is for every student to be successful when they graduate; and that means she wants everyone to graduate.
When she is not at school, Mrs Hassler loves to read. Her favorite books include The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald and The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd. She also loves to travel. She’s been to Europe, Mexico, Canada, and most of the United States. Mrs. Hassler’s favorite place was Paris. She loved how old everything was compared to our country.
Welcome to Northern Lebanon Mrs. Hassler. We hope you have a great year!
