After years of misery, hope, stress, and “The Process”, the SIxers have finally won their first playoff series since 2012.
I think it's finally time to say Philly fans, the Sixers are going to be a legitimate Finals contender for this year and more after that, barring that they lock up Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid as the team’s franchise players.
Last night the Sixers played all four quarters and beat the Miami Heat 104-91 to move on to the Eastern Conference Semifinals, in what could be the end of the Dwayne Wade era in Miami. The game presented everything you’d want as a Sixers fan, great shooting, defense, passing, and they dominated from the foul line. Not only that, but Wednesday Meek Mill the great philly rapper was released from jail and he appeared at the game to start the night off by ringing the new traditional bell.
It was a great night for the team, the fans, Meek, the city, the front office, the coaching and training staff, and most of all Joel Embiid and Brett Brown. Those two have been with the team and experienced the embarrassing years that the Process handed us fans.
From heartbreaking injuries to 10 win seasons, Brett Brown has to feel all of the emotions after last night’s victory. The team celebrated with a surprise chocolate milk shower on coach Brett Brown, where he was congratulated by his players and got to ring the victory bell. This was Brett Brown first career playoff series win.
I’ve been a fan ever since the 2012 series when I first started to love basketball, and as a fan you start to appreciate these moments more. Philly is on fire right now, and it's only the beginning of what could begin the dynasty of Philadelphia sports.
The Sixers have all of the tools to make a long playoff run, including a possible championship run. Everyone across the country is jumping on the Sixers hype after winning 20 of their last 21 games, this includes the 16 season-ending winning streak.
Brett Brown said the team is still, “growing and has more to give” during his postgame interview when asked about the potential of his team. That is very true, and I think this is only the beginning of this year’s playoff run.
This young talented has everything you look for in a championship caliber team such as talent, veteran leadership, defense, playmaking, shot makers, a rim protector, and a great coaching staff.
I absolutely love the effort these guys have been showing, and proving to us that they can handle the physicality of the playoffs. Also, you should have all of the confidence in the world for this team that they can make it to the Finals.
If there’s any more doubters out there, it’s time to believe in our fun and energetic squad.
