For the first time ever, the Eagles are heading into the NFL Draft as Super Bowl Champions.
The great part about this Draft, is that there is no need to panic on who to draft Eagles fans. Obviously, the Eagles have some holes and gaps to fill but the team is already loaded with plenty of talent, and are drafting to keep the team in shape for years down the road.
The Eagles need to solidify the linebacker position in this draft, because you can’t rely on all three of your linebackers to stay healthy during the entire season. Another option could be drafting another defensive lineman, and adding to what could be the most potent defensive line in the NFL.
Another route the Eagles should consider, is drafting another safety to learn from Malcolm Jenkins and maybe one day take over his spot. Malcolm Jenkins is 30 years old and probably only has another 2 or 3 years left in the tank. So this is definitely an option the Eagles should look at.
But if anything the Eagles defense is nothing to worry about heading into the season.
The offense may be the most interesting part for this team. The eagles have plenty of decisions to make, to help acquire more weapons for their franchise quarterback Carson Wentz.
The Eagles three biggest needs on offense are at wide receiver, the offensive line, and running back. Yes the Eagles do have plenty of talent at each position, but each is needed to keep the offense one of the best in the league.
A new offensive tackle would be great for the eagles, as this will probably be future Hall of Famer Jason Peters last year in the NFL. Carson Wentz needs all of the protection he can get this year, after tearing his ACL and LCL is his left knee last season.
I think drafting another wide receiver would help give Carson Wentz another option, and it would create more depth at that position if an injury would occur. Christian Kirk and Courtland Sutton are two targets the Eagles should look into.
Lastly, adding another powerhouse running back would be a great addition for the eagles. The Eagles lost LeGarrette Blount to free agency, but have the chance to fill in his spot with a couple talented powerhouse backs in this draft. Derrius Guice and Nick Chubb are the most talented running backs left in the draft heading into the second round.
The first round of the draft was one to remember because for the first time ever, 4 quarterbacks were taken in the top 10 picks. But on the Eagles side of the draft, they decided to trade their 32nd pick of the draft to the Ravens for the 52nd pick this year, a fourth round pick, and another second round pick for the 2019 draft.
This was a great move by the Eagles so they could collect more picks, and a better chance to draft an impact player.
I trust everything the Eagles are doing as they have recently drafted very well in the past, and Eagles fans should be very confident in this team heading into the season.
