The Vikes got the ball rolling on the third play from scrimmage when Issac Wengert connected with Michigan Daub on a 65-yard touchdown pass. After a Luke Funck 2-point conversion, NL was up 8-0. However, on their fist offensive play, Donegal sent Tanner Shirk on a 76-yard rumble. After a 2-point conversion the score was knotted at 8-8. Luke Funck, who surpassed the 1,000 yard mark on Friday, put the Vikes ahead when he busted through the line and went 76 yards to paydirt. A failed conversion left the score 14-8 at the half.
The Indians found an answer to NL's stout defense, when Shirk found the endzone again, putting Donegal up 15-14. Donegal added a large scare when Mario Marshall scored on the next possession to give the Indians a 22-14 lead heading into the fourth quarter. As they have done in previous weeks, the Vikings found another gear in the fourth quarter, scoring 20 unanswered points. Luke Funck capped a Viking drive by finding the endzone for the second time. Thanks to a defensive turnover, Issac Wengert scored twice within a matter of seconds. Up 34-22 the Vikings held Donegal on their last drive ton secure the victory. The game was televised as Fox 43's Football Frenzy game of the week. Special thanks to the student section who made the trip and were great as usual. Come out and see the Vikings clinch the title on friday at Columbia at 7pm. #backtoback #landsharks #dirtsauce
